Flag Raising Application Form

There is a community Flag pole located on the front of the Huntsville Civic Centre building. Flags are flown in support of fund-raising drives important to the residents of Huntsville. Also to celebrate civic events important to the residents of Huntsville, or for other reasons as determined by the Mayor.

Want to see your flag at Town Hall?

If you and your organization/group are from the Muskoka area and are interested in raising your flag to recognize a celebration, event or cause, the Town of Huntsville invites you to complete the Flag Raising Application.

How do I fill in a flag raising requests?

Fill in and submit the online Comunity Flag Raising Application. Once completed:

  • The application is submitted to the Clerk.
  • Organizaitons not pre-approved by Council must first obtain approval by presenting a deputation to General Committee/Council with their request.
  • Pending meeting cycle, applications must submitted a minimum of 90 days prior to the date the flag is requested to be raised.

The Office of the Mayor will notify you if your flag raising request approved or denied. If the Mayor approves the request:

  • Please provide the Town with the flag a minimum of 2 business days before the flag raising ceremony.
  • The Mayor's office will confirm the date and time of the flag raising ceremony, confirm the Mayor's attendance, and invite Council members and staff.
  • You are encouraged to bring educational materials/resources to the event to share with participants.
  • You are encouraged to post information on the Town's event calendar. 

What type of flag raising requests will be denied?

  • Political parties or political organizations
  • Religious organizations or in celebration of religious events
  • Promotion of businesses or commercial enterprises
  • Matters that incite hatred or discrimination
  • If the purpose is against or contradicting of corporate policies and bylaws
  • If the purpose is to challenge the integrity of the Town, Ontario, or Canada. 

Pre-approved organizations:

Organizations with pre-approval are to submit applications at least three (3) weeks prior to the day requested for the raising of the flag.

The following organizations are hereby pre-approved to forego the deputation process:

  • Autism Ontario
  • Big Brothers, Big Sisters
  • CARP – Muskoka Chapter
  • Community Living Huntsville
  • Muskoka Pride Community
  • Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer
  • Royal Canadian Legion Branch 232
  • St. John Ambulance
  • Crime Stoppers of Simcoe Dufferin Muskoka
  • Special Olympics (May be flown at the Canada Summit Centre)
  • Scouts Canada
  • Girl Guides Canada
  • Bell Let’s Talk
  • Huntsville Terry Fox Community Run
  • Hospice Huntsville
  • Alzheimer Society of Muskoka
  • VON Canada
